Selective Functional Movement Assessment
The Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) is a series of seven full-body movement tests with the purpose of understanding and assessing natural patterns of movement such as leaning, bending and squatting that are closely associated with musculoskeletal pain.
When the clinical assessment is initiated from the perspective of the movement pattern, Dr. Donato has the opportunity to identify meaningful impairments that may be seemingly unrelated to the main musculoskeletal complaint, but contribute to the associated disability. He will use the findings from the SFMA to prescribe specific corrective exercises for effective pain relief.
When combined, ART and the SFMA are very effective at providing not only injury treatment and prevention, but performance enhancement as well. Dr. Donato regularly treats active people and athletes of all competitive levels as a means of reducing the risk of injury, keeping a patient active and doing what they love or going for a PR in an upcoming event.
